Like the inevitable character in a third of Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, I fear I have lost “The Christmas Spirit.” In hopes of finding it, I will be watching a ridiculous number of Christmas movies on TV. Here is my story…
Great Performances: Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn, The Broadway Musical (2017) PBS
-A very cute conductor.
-Corbin Bleu! (He doesn’t have his fro anymore L )
-One of the greatest bromances in history.
-The place to perform is The Pump Room in Chicago! That’s right around the corner from me!
-A LOT more exposition and build-up than I remember from the movie. (Read: when do we get to the good stuff?)
-Tap dancing WHILE jump roping WHILE on beat. Very impressive.
Oh, I get it. It’s like a musical for people who don’t like musicals. Well, I like musicals, and I didn’t so much care for this. It was fine.
(Obviously, this is in a completely different league than the made-for-TV-movies I’ve been watching)
